The main function of the composite deoxidizer for steelmaking is to react with the dissolved oxygen in molten iron, mainly to generate non-metallic compounds, and to form a precipitate that floats to the slag layer, and can be removed to obtain pure molten iron. Aluminum can be used as deoxidizer, grain refiner and alloy additive in steelmaking process. Its application forms are aluminum wire (feeding method), small aluminum ingot, aluminum ring, aluminum cake (input method), aluminum shot, Bomb (launching method), aluminum iron block, aluminum silicon barium iron block (composite deoxidation method), etc.

The existing aluminum wire is generally produced by the cable factory using primary aluminum ingots by smelting, extruding or rolling processes. Barium iron is produced using submerged arc furnace. A considerable amount of scrap aluminum can be generated during the production and use of aluminum materials. The aluminum content specified in the steel-making aluminum ingot standard is lower than that of the primary aluminum ingot. Therefore, the scrap aluminum can be used to make a steel-making deoxidizer. Recycling is very important.

With the rapid development of the steelmaking industry, there are more and more varieties of steelmaking deoxidizers. The composite deoxidizer can be used in smelting processes such as electric furnace --- LF furnace and converter. When smelting high-quality steel, it is very beneficial to improve the quality of the steel; when smelting ordinary steel, the use of synthetic deoxidizers can also improve the cleanliness of the steel and reduce the cost of deoxidation and desulfurization.
